1. have you ever been through a natural disaster? (fire, flood, hurricane, tornado, landslide, etc.)
Quite a few hurricanes. Katrina most recently.
2. on september 11, 2001, i was to fly out of denver to orlando three hours after the WTC was hit … and then had to drive home 30 hours through 10 states. what were you doing at that time?
I was at school. In English.
3. how were you affected by 9-11? (losing friends/family, financially, depression, etc.)
Well, I wasn’t affected personally, and I don’t know anyone who was. We were all just sad about it.
4. as of thursday, fema didn’t have a headquarters set up for hurricane katrina … not even in the ’safe’ areas of mississippi. what are your thoughts on that?
I was incredibly pissed off. All those people were still stuck in New Orleans (most are out now, according to my mom but I haven’t checked that info myself) and they had been there for four days already. The people were running out of food and water and the sanitation was horrible and there is absolutely no excuse for FEMA to not get in there when there were reporters going back and forth from here in Baton Rouge to there.
5. opinionbomb: do you think that the lack of help at new orleans’ convention centre AND the superdome was a result of racial bias, or just a horribly bad situation?
See above. Horribly bad situation.
6. kanye west blasted bush for not caring about black people at a fundraising concert for katrina victims last night. was this a good thing, or was his rant misplaced?
What kind of person says all that at a BENIFIT CONCERT? The concert was supposed to be about helping people. So.. misplaced.
7. if the power was out for 24 hours, what would you do?
Mine was out for 36 hours. I was soooo bored. I don’t even know what I did. I text messaged friends for a bit, but at first my cell phone wasn’t working either. But we also had a generator so we did have limited power for the fridge and TV and I plugged in my laptop and used my brother’s DSL. But the generator couldn’t be on all the time. So most of the time I was just bored.
8. what are you plans for this labour day weekend?
I have none. Such a sad little life I have.
