Genio Atrapado

So I’m in LA. I only have a month left. I want to just stay here in California forever. Some day.. Just not this time. :(

The first week I was here was the last week of the LA Film Festival. This year it was the first they held it in Westwood, which is right off UCLA’s campus and where I’m staying for the summer. So about a week or so before I left home, I found out there was going to be a screening of The TV Set (David Duchovny’s new movie) at the festival, and I went to the website and bought a ticket within five minutes.

Now this was before I even thought of the possibility of him being there, right? The next day I think about that. Because he’d been to like every other screening already, so why not this one? I mean.. it was the first one in LA. Close to home, you know?

So I start getting my hopes up that I’m gonna possibly meet David Duchovny. For like a week and a half it’s pretty much all I talk about. I’m sure people got so fed up. But anyway.

So I got here on Sunday and the screening was Wednesday. Sunday night I was at Starbucks using the internet and went to check out the movie’s official site to see if it was up yet, and lo and behold, it says there’s going to be a Q&A session following the movie. I start freaking out because now I’m thinking that of course he’s gonna be there, you know?

So Wednesday night comes along. I’m thinking about how I’ve been getting my hopes up and that if he’s not there I may cry. Before the movie starts, Jake Kasden (writer/director) goes and gives a little speech, and says that afterward there’s going to be a Q&A including some cast members. The first name he names: David. I was like OH MY GOD HE’S HERE I’M IN THE SAME ROOM AS DAVID DUCHOVNY. I sent a text message to about 15 people.

Okay so the movie goes. It was hilarious. And probably the best acting I’ve seen from DD ever. It was a good movie. So afterward there’s the Q&A, and I see him and there’s the real proof we’re in the same room and I’m getting all excited. Because I know he’s super cool and like.. takes pictures and is nice to fans and stuff. You know. Anyway..

So after the Q&A I kinda sorta make my way up to the front of the theatre and like catch David as he’s walking back toward the lobby right? So I’m all being timid and stuff and feel quite a bit starstruck like I did with Anthony Rapp but I forced myself to do better this time and actually talked. So I was like uhh do you think I could get a picture with you? And he was really nice and he was like yeah sure but out in the lobby because they’re kicking us out of here for another screening in a few minutes. So I’m like okay cool.

So as I’m walking back to the lobby, I hear him behind me introducing someone to Chris Carter (creator of The X-Files) and then notice that I’m walking next to Judy Greer. I told her that my cousin was super jealous back in Louisiana about me getting to see her new movie and we actually ended up talking for a few minutes. I don’t really remember about what, though.

So I’m in the lobby now. And David’s not in there yet. I send another mass text message saying I spoke to David Duchovny. Then I see him walk in with Chris Carter and then some other chick goes up to him and takes a picture with him and then another one with Chris. And then after I go up and I’m like can I get a picture and he’s like yeah and I didn’t have anyone with me so CC was nice and was like do you want me to take the picture for you? And I was like that’d be great thanks.

And so I go over by David and he puts his arm around me and right about now I start freaking out but I managed to stay calm and collected on the outside. I put my arm back around him and kinda put my head on his chest. Then Chris took the picture and I was like thank you to both of them and then freaked left before I did something stupid which I know I would have done.

So yeah, Chris Carter took a picture of me and David Duchovny together. Cool.

In hindsight, being an X-Files fan and all, it probably would have been kinda cool to get a picture with CC, too. But I wasn’t thinking straight. Oh well. The David one was a much bigger deal to me.

So here’s the picture. I noticed later it’s in front of the bathroom. That amuses me. :P

The other coolest thing that’s happened since I’ve been here:

Last night my roommates and I went to this party in Bel Air. We weren’t on the guest list (it was like a party for this exclusive group of people), so the guy whose house it was at let us in the front gate. I walked into the front door of a 15,000 square foot in Bel Air. Like a block away from the Playboy Mansion. And there was free alcohol. That was cool. :P

More stories later. This blog got huge.
So I’ve been adding icons as I do them, and there’s a nice collection now. Not as many as a lot of people have, but it’s a lot more than six or however many it was to start with. :)

Ok, since you said you’re not gay… I shall have to wittily retort with the following: O RLY?
Really.

Thanks Yelly for commenting last time.

Sweetness! That’s so incredibly cool! I haven’t really ever met anyone terribly interesting… basically just a bunch of Canadian ‘celebrities’. Ha ha.
